Hull Venue launch
The ‘Open To All’ campaign, ahead of Hull Venue's launch in 2018, needed to do more than announce a new building. It need to build communities, capture data, get the buy in of sponsors and convert them all into ticket sales.
With a programme of events suitable for all - from rock to pop, comedy to family shows - we named the campaign ‘Open To All’ and aimed it at the whole community. We encouraged people to ask questions, gave updates during the build process, held regular guided tours and started to drip feed the announcement of new events as opening date got closer.
We also threw in a Grand Flush…
Artists such as Van Morrison, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Jack White, George Ezra and Paloma Faith were amongst the first to step on the stage.
The campaign went on to win multiple local and regional awards, even stopping best global campaign from The Ticketing Business Awards beating Ed Sheeran and Amazon Prime, recognition that the work stood up against the best in the industry.
It remains one of the proudest projects of my career: a genuine team effort that helped put a new venue on the map from the very first night.
