The Liam Gallagher tweet
When a group of Hull City fans goaded Noel Gallagher into calling Hull ‘a shithole’ during a gig in Texas, I spotted an opportunity.
While the Gallagher brothers may be best of friends again now, in 2018 Liam and Noel remained at loggerheads. So when Noel made disparaging comments, I sent Liam a tweet suggesting he show the people of Hull his brother was wrong and he should open the new Arena.
A short time later, Liam replied accepting the offer to play in front of 3,500 people in Hull. Our phones melted from all the social comments. Over 440,000 impressions on Twitter alone. Thousands of new followers on Facebook.
Our people spoke to Liam’s people and unfortunately we couldn’t make the dates work.
But then, the twist.
Noel decided he’d be the one to come to Hull first, bringing his High Flying Birds for a show in early 2019.
Not to be outdone, and keeping his promise, Liam then decided to bring MTV Unplugged to the city, performing an acoustic show broadcast live on the TV channel and released on vinyl.
One tweet sent and Noel and Liam both performed in the city. Mad fer it!
